Art Nouveau (“new art”) jewelry was created in France between about 1895 and 1910, coming on the heels of the “overwrought” designs of the Victorian era (which ended with Queen Victoria’s death in 1901). Design focused on women and nature and was worn by only select members of society. The pieces were less about gemstones and more about enamel, including plique-à-jour enamel. This necklace is a conversion from Art Nouveau stick pin.
Because we do all our restoration work by hand, we can offer a huge array of customization. If you have inquiries about sizing, alterations, or engraving, you can inquire about a quote here. As with all antiques, this piece is one-of-a-kind and can sell at any time. |
