Cloisonne is an ancient metalworking technique with evidence of use found as far back as Mesopotamia. Metal wires build the outlining design and enamel fill provides contrast and color. The style has had resurgences at multiple points in history. In the early 20th century, East-Asian style patterns and styles were increasingly popular. These teardrop cloisonne earrings feature Jingtai Blue, a popular design element jewelers featured when taking inspiration from traditional Chinese cloisonne pieces.
